There's a new member to the Honda Civic family, and it will be making its grand entrance at the Frankfurt Motor Show coming up next month. That would be the Tourer, an expanded-body lift back that draws heavily upon the Civic's design, and allowing it to offer even more.
From the front end back to the A-beam, the Civic Tourer resembles its smaller sedan sibling. Going aft, things get more interesting. The new variant has a lift back gate, which rises up high above the body to allow for maneuvering room with loading large objects, which the Tourer can handle adroitly, especially with the passenger seat down.
But that isn't all this versatile car has going for it. Complete with Earth Dreams underpinnings, she's also got quite a bit of fuel efficiency as well. The engine specifics name it as a 1.6-liter i-DTEC Honda Earth Dreams Technology motor, with the option of a 1.8-liter i-VTEC with manual or automatic transmission. There's also an additional optional feature called the Adaptive Damper System (ADS) which increases stability and performance in a variety of different driving environments.
So when will the Tourer be coming to our Franklin, TN locale? Unfortunately, it's not looking likely that it will. The current announcement says that this car will only be released in Europe. Yet, if we know anything about Honda, they'll probably gift us with some of this model's functionality and tech sometime in the near future.
That doesn't mean that we don't have new Honda vehicles without a lot of cargo room, however. Come down to Darrell Waltrip Honda to check them out.
