Available at Darrell Waltrip Honda this fall, the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid is creating some noise with drivers from the greater Franklin, TN area and beyond.
Want to know why?
It will be the first vehicle to make use of a newly developed duel motor hybrid system. With this technology, Honda plans to build the 2014 Accord Hybrid with both a 124-kilowatt (KW) traction electric motor that can work as an electric continuously variable transmission (e-CVT) as well as a 105-KW electric motor for the purpose of power generation.
The result will be a vehicle with an incredible fuel economy rating, however the EPA has yet to formally test the highly anticipated hybrid. While hearing this might sound like a bit of a letdown to those of you who simply can't wait, this makes perfect sense too. Honda is still getting ready for production of the new model. Honda is arranging to produce the Accord Hybrid right here in the U.S. This huge task requires a $23-million investment in addition to the creation of 50 new jobs at its plant in Ohio.
Of course, this news doesn't exactly come as a surprise to anyone here at our Honda dealership in Franklin, TN. The company has been producing the Accord here in the U.S. for over thirty years, so it makes sense the hybrid will be produced here as well.
