Of all things we here at Darrell Waltrip Honda look forward to at the North American International Auto Show each year, nothing really holds a candle to the concept cars. Not to belittle our excitement for new car debuts, but as much as we love the idea of actually getting to drive a said car in the near future, there's something awesome about a car that we maybe can't. Like the name implies, anything goes with concept cars, and in an industry where you can make or break a model by thinking outside the box, we can't help but be intrigued by what Honda's bringing to the table this year.

Case in point: the yet-to-be-named Honda Urban SUV Concept.

Slated to launch early next year once Honda's new assembly plan in Celaya, Mexico gets up and running, the Urban SUV Concept is the automaker's latest venture into the "small car" market (or "small SUV" rather). With an exterior build that looks to have the face of a Honda Accord, the crossover looks to be priced and sized below the Honda CR-V and is reported to run on a fuel-efficient Earth Dreams Technology engine. And with a host of cargo and passenger options thanks to its Magic Seat setup, we wouldn't worry too much about running out of space in this puppy.

Sure, "small cars" aren't for everyone, but with demand increasing and fuel-efficient technology more advanced than ever before, we can't help but see the potential. In the words of John Mendel, executive vice president of sales at American Honda, "With the continued expansion of our North American manufacturing operations, we expect fuel-efficient and fun-to-drive 'small' cars to play a key role in meeting the needs of our customers in the U.S."1.

Like we said, it's going to be a while before we can take one for a spin, but keep checking back on our blog for all the latest news. Until then, feel free to come see us at 1430 Murfreesboro Rd in Franklin, TN to go for a test drive in our of our cutting-edge Hondas today.
