We dedicate a lot of posts here on the Darrell Waltrip Honda blog to sharing news about awards that go to our favorite new Honda cars. With top-rated models like the 2014 CR-V raking in the honors, we can't help but brag a bit, and today we hope you'll humor us doing a little more of the same.
Today, we're thrilled to share with our readers that the hybrid edition of the Honda Fit just won the "Japan Car of the Year" award. It's the top honor in the Land of the Rising Sun, and we couldn't be more proud of the fact that this efficient compact car wowed voting journalists and auto experts enough to earn the title.
There are plenty of reasons why the Honda Fit Hybrid earned this top honor, though, starting with its sleek design lines and ending with its 1.5-liter engine and lithium ion battery. This model gets the best fuel economy out of any model sold in the island nation, and we're sure that fact was greatly appreciated by its eco-minded residents.
This award marks the twelfth time that the Japanese automaker has earned the award with one of its new models. The sporty Honda CR-Z Hybrid won in 2010, and each year, the automaker has to battle it out with steep competition from brand's from all over the world.
For now, this particular model isn't available for sale in the United States, but we hope that it's continued success in overseas markets means that it will soon arrive at our Franklin, TN dealership.
