The automotive industry seems to have been riding the rocket ship to success lately. But if there's one automaker that's been consistently besting its own sales goals, its Honda. They've been on quite a burn lately with their year-over-year sales, with August topping out at 26.7 percent over the same month last year.

By the numbers, Honda managed to push over 166,432 units last month. Not only is this a pretty impressive number, it's also the best-ever August that Honda has seen.

This total number also factors in the contribution of Acura, Honda's luxury extension. Out of the 166k figure, Acura sold 17,051 autos, which represents a 9 percent year over year increase.

The year-to-date (YTD) sales have also been growing. So far this year, the automaker has sold over 1,053,499 units. That's 11 percent higher than the same time in 2012.

So which Honda models led the charge? You might know a few of them.

The biggest winner was the CR-V, which posted 34,654 models, and gaining 45.1 percent in year-over-year gains. This represents a new benchmark for this vehicle, which set its previous sales record in March 2012.

Additionally, long-time favorite sedans Accord and Civic also saw mind-boggling sales, which each model topping 38,000 on the sales chart. The Civic also set a new milestone, having achieved its best sales since August 2009 last month.

Of course, Honda wouldn't be breaking all these sales records if it wasn't for the stellar autos in their lineup. We'd love to share them with you. Come on down to Darrel Waltrip Honda, located in Franklin, TN and take a gander. You can also set up a test drive at your convenience.
