There's a lot going on in Honda-land these days. The 2014 Accord Hybrid will be arriving in our showroom soon, and the Japanese manufacturer's all-new jetliner, the Hondajet, which we recently mentioned on our blog will soon be taking to the skies.
It's always exciting for us here at Darrell Waltrip Honda to see the fantastic progress our favorite auto manufacturer is making both inside and outside of the automotive industry. In some cases, though, the company is way ahead of its time.
One example is with hydrogen fuel cell technology. As you might have heard from a credible Honda source, the manufacturer has been offering the FCX Clarity zero emission vehicle (ZEV) for lease for the last five years.
The FCX Clarity is a revolutionary car that runs one-hundred percent from its hydrogen fuel cell and powerful electric motor, with no emissions what-so-ever. Unfortunately, however, there is a woeful lack of hydrogen refilling stations stateside at the moment, making leasing this ZEV here impossible.
But don't worry, Honda is on it.
In order to help the country's hydrogen infrastructure keep up with the times, the Japanese manufacturer has joined H2USA, an initiative started by the US Department of Energy with just that goal in mind. To wit, H2USA aims to expand research into hydrogen-based technology and add refilling stations, thus allowing ZEVs such as the FCX Clarity to firmly plant its wheels on U.S. roads.
Naturally, we can't wait for that to happen! It may be a little while, but don't worry, we already have plenty of eco-friendly new Honda vehicles available in our Franklin, TN showroom. Contact us by phone, or through our website with any questions, or to set up a test drive.
